Aug 20, PETALING JAYA – The Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) organised a Startup Selangor Gathering on the 20TH of August 2015, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at The Canvas, Damansara Perdana.
With the aim of uplifting the startup ecosystem and online entrepreneurship, the SITEC Startup Selangor monthly gatherings will take place from July 2015 to April 2016. Local CEOs, founders, and startup veterans will be invited to provide expertise and give talks on their experiences in the fast-paced world of technology startups.
On the August 2015 Startup Selangor Gathering, Petrina from Nuren.Co and Chan Wei Chi from Myhero shared their startup experiences on the topic of “Ideas and Execution”.
Nuren.Co is a local startup that operates several online platforms focusing on important stages in the lives of women. The company launched Wedding.com.my and Nuren.sg, a wedding marketplace that aims to inspire couples in their wedding planning, connect couples to their favourite wedding vendors, and enable online shopping for weddings. The company is also launching its vertical platform – motherhood.com.my – a parenting platform. Co-founder Petrina shared about what it really takes to run a successful wedding startup in Malaysia.
Myhero is a locally developed app that aims to create more awareness in safety and security. Myhero connects the local community and enables users to constantly share community-related information such as crime incidences, road closures, service complaints or even requests for help. Chan Wei Chi, the co-founder of Myhero talked about what he has learned from his startup journey so far.
