Shah Alam: Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) organized the 12th e-commerce class entitled Platform on 8 December 2015 (Tuesday) at 2PM at Selangor Digital Creative Centre.
Shaun Yap, Seller Development Manager of 11street, Ken Lai, Sales and Business Development Manager of Logon.my, and Rupinder Singh, Head Operation of iPmart were invited to share their insights on e-commerce development, and to introduce their platform. Around 30 participants joined the class.
Yap said that it is easier to start doing business now because of the development of the Internet as 20 million Malaysians are online. Thus, Malaysia has a higher smartphone penetration than other Asian countries. Additionally, Malaysians spend 3.1 hours per day on the Internet in average.
“More women (53 percent) than men (47 percent) shop online,” he added that 45 percent of online shoppers are aged between 18 and 24 years old. In addition, 35 percent of online shoppers earn between RM3000 and RM6999, and 25 percent of online shoppers earn above RM7000.
He also pointed out that 43 percent of online Malaysians who currently do not shop online are planning to purchase online in the next 12 months.
He mentioned that 11st Malaysia is an open marketplace established in April 2015. The marketplace which operated by Celcom Planet, a joint venture between Celcom Axiata and SK Planet, has attracted many well-known merchants to sell on it such as BlackBerry, Huawei, Borders, Samsonite and Reebok.
Lai introduced Logon.my to participants, “it is a boundless space and limitless shopping mall which operates 24 hours per day, and 7 day per week. Shoppers can buy anything anytime.”
“Logon.my is established by Sin Chew Media Corporation and Nanyang Group,” he continued, “we gain highly brand prestige among Chinese community.”
He added that Sin Chew Daily, Nanyang Siang Pau, China Press, Guang Ming Daily and Life Magazine have over 2.5 million readers. Their digital media news site has reached out to 7 millions unit visitors and 57 million monthly page views.
They are not only using their own printing and digital media to promote Logon.my, but also promoting the platform through conferences, exhibitions, workshops and seminars.
He told merchants that sales cycle is completed if no incident found after 14 days (upon delivery) and submission of proof of delivery. Merchant payout is commenced weekly via online booking.
Rupinder Singh mentioned that iPmart is a MSC status company which provides full e-commerce business operation service which includes web development, social media and digital marketing, and supply-chain management. www.ipmart.com.my is Malaysia’s largest electronic gadgets e-commerce portal.
