Klang, 22nd August 2020 – The Selangor Information and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) in collaboration with the Bandar Baru Klang Community Service Centre has successfully organised the Jelajah Usahawan Digital Selangor Programme 2nd Series at Klang Executive Club, Klang. The programme received an encouraging response where 200 participants out of 450 who have registered, attended this programme.
Entrepreneurs from around Klang that attended the programme learnt about digital business from industry players brought by SITEC including Google Malaysia, Shopee, Lazada, Boost E-Wallet, AVANA, Ninja Van, BungkusIT, Hijrah Selangor, Youbeli and Dun Community Service Centre Bandar Baru Klang.
All of these industry players shared their services to help local entrepreneurs to grow their business digitally. The programme is designed primarily to provide assistance and support to local business in Klang district that wants to start an e-commerce business.
YB Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry & Commerce and SME and Chairman of SITEC officiated this programme. He stressed that the Selangor State Government is working hard in helping all Selangor traders who have to bear losses due to COVID-19 pandemic. He also stated that digital business is the appropriate medium to save these affected businesses successfully.
Moreover, according to Dato’ Teng, the State Government has launched the Selangor E-Bazar Raya campaign with Shopee in May to July this year where it managed to generate about RM341.5 million in a ripple effect to the merchants which is an increase of 3441% of the RM1 million voucher allocated. The campaign also attracted 8,600 e-commerce merchants in Selangor with 6,400 of them are new merchants from the conventional business.
Therefore, Jelajah Usahawan Digital Selangor Programme is the perfect platform to provide exposure, guidance and training to local entrepreneurs who want to learn new knowledge related to digital business as they now must keep up with the advanced technology. Selangor acts as a hub for global trade centres and now can move forward with SITEC playing a crucial role in providing awareness and training to small and medium entrepreneurs in the state.
From June 2015 to 2020, SITEC has organised more than 93 e-commerce classes and training to help Selangor entrepreneurs to convert their traditional business to online. Moreover, SITEC has also successfully trained more than 550 entrepreneurs in Selangor through Online 100 and Apps 100 programmes. Through this programme, they get to learn how to market their products on Lazada, Shopee and youbeli.com.
SITEC will continue with Jelajah Usahawan Digital Selangor 2020 programme to several areas including Ampang, Gombak and Kuala Selangor.
