In 2018, SITEC brought our very first accelerator to the nation – the Selangor Accelerator Programme. A huge success, many startups in the programme went on to do greater things!
We caught up with some of them to find out what they’re up to and what they’ve achieved so far post SAP.
CheQQMe
CheQQMe is an O2O solution that utilises gamification concepts, in order to convert online users to offline walk-in users. This brings much needed traffic to retailers that desire to engage, understand their users better, and eventually increase sales per visit.
CheQQMe participated in two competitions – the Entrepreneurship Innovation Competition of Caohejing Hi-Tech Carnival 2018, and The Entrepreneur Colosseum, TEC PUMM, coming in first place and as a finalist respectively.
They were also shortlisted at the ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards 2018 for the Best Digital Marketing Solution, whereas their founder, Lee Wei Chee, was also shortlisted as Founder of the Year at the same event.
Dropee
Dropee is a B2B marketplace that brings together suppliers and retailers on a single platform. With Dropee retailers can now source for products directly from qualified suppliers; wholesalers, manufacturers and principals in a faster, cheaper and reliable manner.
Dropee came out tops in the HLB LaunchPad Activate 2018 competition, and also amassed a number of cool awards under their belt since. They won both the ARBSA Founder of the year 2018 award and Best Newcomer 2018. They also won Startup of the Year at the CGP Awards.
But most interestingly, Dropee managed to secure USD 350,000 in funding from Vynn Capital in January 2019, which they will be using to kickstart market expansion, hire new talents, and introduce new product features.
Firegent
Firegent provides automatic data mining from various documents using AI. Through a decentralised global data marketplace, users can share, receive and combine data the way they need it. Firegent was a finalist for the Business Process Automation award at the ARBSA.
Homa
Homa is an O2O Marketplace for construction and renovation users to find a wide range of building materials and home finishing products with a key focus on overstock inventories.
Homa received an RM 50,000 undisclosed angel investment in 2018, and also was the winner of the 2018 Cowork Ventures Incubator and Accelerator programme. They also made Top 30 at the 2018 JCI Creative Young Entrepreneurs Awards.
Kwikcar
Kwikcar is a mobile application that allows privately owned cars to be listed for short term rentals. Renters can rent a car on demand for a day up to months and have the car picked up a convenient location.
At the World Travel Forum Lucerne Startup Innovation Bootcamp, they won the Public Prize and was a finalist in the Mobility category. They also made it as a finalist at the ARBSA for the ‘Best Life Helper’ category.
Malldash
MallDash is the “Google” and “Waze” for shopping malls covering over 50+ malls across Malaysia. With Malldash, shoppers can search for anything across any mall in Malaysia. Malldash won the NTT Communications: Best Innovation Award in 2018.
Picmote
Picmote is a SAAS tool for e-commerce businesses to easily create attractive and persuasive images such as banners, social media posts, ad images and product thumbnail in minutes.
Picmote managed to secure the CIP 300 funding from Cradle Fund in 2018. The CIP300 is a pre-commercialisation programme that provides a conditional grant and value added assistance up to RM300 000 for entrepreneurs to kick-start innovative technology based start-ups to enhance and commercialise their products or services.
Pinetop
One of Pinetop’s products is a GPS Fleet system developed for fleet owners to monitor their vehicles effectively. Data is collected, analysed and displayed to fleet owners for better visualisation and a clearer understanding on the usage of their vehicles.
Pinetop managed to successfully crowdfund RM 12,000 at the Mystartr Dream Factory competition in 2018, placing as a Top 10 finalist. They also came in as a Top 5 finalist with the 2018 Cowork Ventures Incubator and Accelerator programme.
Printcious
Printcious is an ecommerce platform with a built-in online design tool for customers to create memorable photo gifts easily online. Printcious serves B2C and B2B customers from over 80 countries worldwide.
Printcious, no stranger to winning multiple awards, made it to the Top 10 at the PUMM (Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia) TEC competition in November 2018. Printcious also went home with the Rising Star Award at the Selangor International Business Summit 2018. They also won the Young/Emerging Business Excellence Awards by Sin Chew.
Rtist
Rtist is Malaysia’s first and only creative job platform which helps businesses hire the right freelance or permanent staff designer instantly, on demand. Rtist also managed to secure the CIP 300 funding from Cradle Fund.
Upal
Upal is Malaysia’s first University Student Part Time and Internship Job Recruitment Platform, connecting over 30,000 jobseekers and employers. Upal made it to the Top 10 at the NTT Communications Awards 2018.
Venturegrab
VentureGrab is Malaysia’s first SME business matching portal that provides a convenient and easy way for business owners and young entrepreneurs to start up or expand or buy-sell a business.
Users can look for potential investors, acquire or dispose company shares and seek or lease franchise opportunities. Venturegrab placed Top 10 at the 2018 Mystartr Dream Factory competition.
Wonderfly
Wonderfly is an online ticketing platform for attractions, events, sports and entertainment events, providing a comprehensive entertainment ticketing offering under one roof at discounted prices for consumers in Southeast Asia.
Wonderfy was shortlisted at the ARBSA for the Best e-Commerce startup, and won the 2018 E-Commerce Best Startup at the Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards by SITEC.
