Cross-border trade promises to be a lucrative endeavour, even if the business only targets the Southeast Asia region and its 600 million-strong population. However, few are the entrepreneurs and SMEs who move into this lucrative international market, with many claiming too many barriers to entry.
Earlier this year, the joint Temasek-Google report on the Digital Market in Southeast Asia mentioned several key figures in their forecast for the SEA region’s growth of the Digital Market up to 2025. Amongst them, they expect the SEA Digital Market to breach USD 200 Billion collectively, with the first hand e-commerce market forecasted to be worth a whopping USD 88 Billion on its own.
The Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council aims to promote, discuss and address the merits and challenges of cross-border e-trading on a global scale through this year’s theme of “Unleashing the Power of Cross-Border Trade” for the Southeast Asia E-Commerce Conference 2016 (SEAEC 2016).
The conference will be held on the 22nd of October, at the MINES International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC), and will feature speakers and panelists from local and global companies, with each speaker/panelist addressing topics such as establishing a successful regional e-Commerce brand, the logistics and supply chain of cross-border e-Commerce, business model trends, as well as payment innovations amongst payment gateways within the region.
The invited speakers and panelists comprise representatives from stakeholders in the regional e-Commerce industry, with names such as iPay88, MOLPay, eBay Malaysia, PayPal, Pos Malaysia, 11street, Lazada Malaysia, Zalora, Amazon and DHL Express, along with representatives from the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) and the Royal Malaysian Customs.
Tickets for the conference are now available on both Eventbrite and Peatix via the official website: bit.ly/seaec16
