Boost Local Talent and Facilities at the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park: Selangor Hub
KUALA LUMPUR, 25 July 2024 – The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has taken a significant step in advancing Malaysia’s semiconductor industry by signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Weeroc, a leading fabless semiconductor manufacturer from France. The LOI signing, held during the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, marks the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at fostering innovation and economic growth in Selangor and beyond.
The State of Selangor recognizes Weeroc’s potential in the fabless semiconductor industry, particularly in precision-analog and radiation-hardened integrated circuit (IC) design for aerospace and photodetection sectors. Sidec will assist in Weeroc’s operational launch in Malaysia and provide facilities at Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park: Selangor Hub in PFCC, Puchong, Selangor. This collaboration aims to stimulate economic growth and technological advancement in the region, creating mutual benefits and success.
The ceremony featured the official signing of the LOI by Mr. Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sidec, and Dr. Salleh Ahmad, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Weeroc, witnessed by Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor, Yang Berhormat Tuan Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade, and Mobility, and YBhg Dato’ Hasan Azhari Bin Haji Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor Berhad.
